Akeredolu

Betty Akeredolu, the wife of late former Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, has spoken out about her husband’s untimely death from cancer. She strongly believes that his reliance on spiritual interventions instead of medical treatment led to his passing. In a candid interview, Betty condemned the faith-based approach her husband took while battling cancer, emphasizing that cancer is a medical issue, not a spiritual attack.

Betty, a breast cancer survivor herself, stressed the importance of early detection and medical treatment. She urged Nigerians to prioritize science over superstition, seeking medical help instead of relying on prayers or spiritual healing. “You cannot pray away breast cancer or any cancer at all,” she said. “Cancer progresses over time, and the earlier you detect and treat it, the better your chances of survival”.

Betty’s experience has only strengthened her stance against spiritual healing for cancer. She recalled facing backlash for rejecting spiritual solutions, but remained resolute in her views. Her message is clear: don’t waste time with pastors or spiritualists when faced with cancer; instead, seek medical attention from qualified doctors.
