The Nigerian Minister of Works, Sen. David Umahi, has clarified that the contract for the remaining sector of Section 2 of the Abuja-Kaduna highway was awarded to Infiouest International Limited, not Infoquest Nigeria Limited. The minister explained that the two companies have similar names, but Infiouest is a French word ¹.
Umahi also stated that Infiouest has a proven track record of completing multi-billion-naira contracts with federal agencies, and the company is corporately active and compliant with all legal requirements ².
Interestingly, Infoquest Nigeria Limited, the company initially reported to have secured the contract, quickly registered as a tax-paying entity with the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) after the report was published. However, the company’s business status remains “Not commenced” ¹.
The minister has demanded a public apology from Daily Trust for publishing “falsehoods” against the Ministry of Works. He also urged the public and media to join in the fight against national sabotage by some contractors ¹.
