Ojy Okpe

Ojinika Anne Okpe, popularly known as Ojy Okpe, is a Nigerian model, film producer, and TV anchor born on April 23, 1981, in Lagos, Nigeria.

She hails from Ukwani in Delta State and is the daughter of Philomena Ngozi Egwuenu and Matthew Egwuenu, a former Nigerian commissioner of police.

Ojy’s educational journey began at Queensland Academy for her primary education and Rainbow College for her secondary school certificate, both in Lagos State. She later moved to the United States, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Communication with a minor in Film Production from St. John’s University, New York, in 2006. Additionally, she studied Film Production at the prestigious New York Film Academy.

Ojy’s career in the entertainment industry began when she was discovered by South African talent scout Jan Malan. She gained widespread recognition after participating in the Mnet Face of Africa competition, where she made it to the finals alongside Oluchi Onweagba. Her modeling career took off, and she worked with top brands and designers such as Oscar de la Renta, Versace, and Dolce & Gabbana under Storm Management.

As a model, Ojy has graced the covers of numerous fashion and lifestyle magazines, including Elle, Cosmopolitan, Essence, and Vogue. She has also walked the runways of various African fashion weeks and worked as a runway model in Paris, New York, and London.In addition to her modeling career, Ojy is a talented TV anchor who hosts the Arise News Good Morning Show alongside Reuben Abati, Rufai Oseni, and Ayo Mairo-Ese. She also hosts her segment, What’s Trending with Ojy Okpe, where she has interviewed public figures such as Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Oluchi Onweagba, and Omotola Jalade Ekeinde.

Ojy has also made a name for herself in the film industry, working as a producer and actress. She was part of the production crew for the documentary Changers: How the Harlem Globetrotters Battled Racism, which won an Emmy Award. She has also worked on Hollywood productions such as The Devil Wears Prada and Spider-Man 3.

In her personal life, Ojy was married to Austin Okpe, with whom she has two children, a boy, and a girl. The couple divorced in 2014. Ojy is close friends with Genevieve Nnaji and Oluchi Onweagba-Orlandi, and the trio often vacations together.
